What are Alpha-hydroxy Acids (AHA)?Alpha-hydroxy acids are a group of plant and animal-derived acids used in skincare products. These include daily products, such as cleansers, serums, toners, creams, etc., as well as concentrated treatments like chemical peels. AHAs do lots of great things for the skin, including first exfoliating the skin then treating skin conditions such as hyperpigmentation (dark spots), loss of collagen, textured skin, dullness, dry or dehydrated skin, surface fine lines and wrinkles, and acne.

There are many amazing AHAs being used in skincare today, but the two most commonly used and researched AHAs are lactic acid and glycolic acid. Lactic acid is derived from lactose, or other carbohydrates, to exfoliate the surface of the skin and improve moisture retention. Glycolic acid is derived by sugar cane to exfoliate the surface of the skin, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles and smoothing the texture of the skin, providing a brighter complexion, improved texture, and healthy glow.

Here at Ageless in the Triad Med Spa, we have several services and products that include these amazing AHAs. From chemical peel, to hydrafacials and even at-home products such as serums, masks, Baby Foot products, etc. to continue treating your skin concerns at home safely with AHAs.
